About HIP

The Health Innovation Programme (HIP) strengthens primary healthcare services in off-grid and underserved communities through solar-powered solutions. By integrating decentralized renewable energy (DRE) into maternal and child health services, HIP supports improved care delivery, reduces maternal mortality, and empowers healthcare staff with reliable power.

Innovation in Antenatal Care with DOTO Health

In partnership with DOTO Health, TENN piloted smart ANC kits and the FETOMAX device at Mile 18 MCHP and York CHC. These kits, powered by portable solar, allow accurate ANC data entry, fetal health monitoring, and better risk detection through real-time digital tracking.

From Darkness to Power: Solarizing PHUs

Each facility was selected based on need—remote access, high delivery rates, or lack of grid power. Installations included lighting, wiring, solar battery systems, and capacity training for maintenance.

Building Local Skills for Long-Term Success

TENN trained healthcare staff and local solar technicians to maintain the systems. A joint training across HIP, LIP, and BIP ensures cross-program sustainability. The goal: local ownership and reliable, lasting impact.
